Greyt Stuff GAP supporter blog - The Barkuterie Box

Posted by Christine Flatley on

The Barkuterie Box came about when we were trying to come up with fun and different ways to gather some fundraising money for the rescue Gretchen was a part of.

We started off just making Barkuterie Boxes and soon realised that we could do so much more. We both have a passion for food and both have human cooking backgrounds so we have found it so much fun experimenting and coming up with cool ideas for pups.

We are a mum and daughter duo. We weren't very close growing up but now we barely go a day without seeing each other! Gretchen is a mum of 3 humans. Alyssa, and twin boys Sam and Joe and 3 dogs. Pippy who is 16! Reggie who is 10 and Olive who is 2. Pippy and Reggie are Standard Schnauzers and Olive is a mixed breed special. Olive was Gretchen's 25th foster pup! Alyssa is a mum of 3 humans. Charlotte, and twin boys Kaleb and Kaiba.

Alyssa doesn't own her own dog but has a shared situation with her brother's Black Lab Mac who is 2. Alyssa also takes care of a mini Schnauzer called Bugsey. You'll often see him at markets with us.

We enjoy hanging out together everyday, creating things in the kitchen other than human food and being able to balance between providing for family as well as being able to be there for the kids at the drop of a hat.

Our favourite products to make are cookies, cakes, donuts, barkuterie boxes and anything Halloween or Christmas themed.

While we don't own any greyhounds we absolutely love their kind nature and we love that there are organisations like Greyhounds as Pets who are out there taking care and helping these beautiful dogs get the life they deserve.
